I really enjoyed this survey of the development and achievements of orientalism‚ until the last two chapters where it just became an assault on Edward Said's 'Orientalism'. The book covers the main characters‚ how they related‚ and what was happening around the world. Irwin has a very engaging style which kept things interesting throughout‚ and got me much more interersted in the subject.
